The Squale 2001 collection represents a milestone in the history of dive watches. It was born in the pioneering era of the 1960s, when new technologies transformed simple timepieces into reliable tools for professionals of the sea. This collection also introduced significant innovations and paved the way for iconic collections like the Squale 2002 and 2003. On the occasion of the brand’s 65th anniversary, Squale reflects on the events and individuals who contributed to making Squale an icon in the world of dive watches, both in the past and today. The Squale 2001, for example, was chosen by the legendary explorer Jacques-Yves Cousteau as a gift for Michel Laval, the first officer of the Calypso, at the start of the 1972 Antarctic expedition.

• This limited edition model exhibits a black dial with a white rehaut and a date aperture at 3 o’clock. 
• The dial also features applied polished steel baton indices and bold hands. For a pop of colour, the minute hand is orange. 
• The baton indices and hands feature a Super-LumiNova C3 coating for optimal legibility.
• A two-tone black and orange bidirectional rotating bezel, with a ‘push to release’ system and sapphire crystal insert, surrounds the dial. 
• A polished 316L stainless steel case also frames the dial. The case measures 40mm in diameter. 
• The words ‘Limited Edition’ and the Squale logo feature on the polished screw-in case back. 
• A flat and anti-reflective sapphire crystal protects the dial. 
• The watch is finished with a black rubber Tropic-style strap that fastens with a pin buckle. 
• Aided by the 4 o’clock crown, the watch is water-resistant up to 600 metres. 
• Movement Type - Automatic with a 38-hour power reserve. It beats at a frequency of 28,800 A/H (4Hz) and has 26 jewels.
