Seiko Astron X Médecins Sans Frontières GPS Solar Chronograph Limited Edition SSH173J1
Proceeds from the sale of this limited edition model will be donated by Seiko to the international relief organisation Médecins Sans Frontières. MSF was founded to provide medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters or excluded from healthcare and comprises 45,000 health professionals in over 70 countries.
This piece is limited to only 800 pieces worldwide, crafted from super-hard coated titanium and a white ceramic bezel insert, with impressive scratch-resistance. The ceramic bezel features Arabic numerals for the movement’s chronograph function. The hands and indices have a strong coating of Lumibrite, for clear visibility in dark conditions. Under the dual-curve sapphire crystal glass its energy efficient solar cell is within the white coloured dial, for charging from natural or artificial light without interference.
It features a new in-house 5X83 solar-powered GPS movement, that not only charges efficiently, but also features a 1/20th of a second chronograph function for measuring elapsed time. The subdial at 12 o’clock is for the chronograph feature, the subdial at 9 o’clock for setting modes, and the subdial at 6 o’clock for a dual-time feature.
The Astron Médecins Sans Frontières GPS Solar Chronograph comes in its own special edition watch case.
