Duckworth Prestex’s origin story spans back almost a century. The Duckworth family business, Prestons, was founded back in 1869 in Bolton. The firm began making pocket watches in the 1920s, which were branded under the name of ‘Prestex’. Despite its success, the Prestex brand was discontinued in the 1960s to prioritise other ventures through Prestons. After 20 years of mourning, Neil Duckworth decided to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps and revive the Prestex brand. Using experience from his long career in watchmaking, Duckworth launched ‘Duckworth Prestex’ to pay homage to both his family and the former beloved Prestex brand. Reimagining the original designs, Duckworth Prestex seeks to create versatile and high-quality pieces for an affordable price.

Coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the first Prestex pocket watch, the Centenary collection oozes Art Deco flair. It is based on an original Prestex from 1935. The Centenary isn’t just a fantastic value proposition, but an equally great encapsulation of Duckworth Prestex’s surprisingly enviable heritage.
